Racing the Autobahn in Buschhuetten

Last Sunday it was THE race in German spring were i entered the ring in Germany! As my Bundesliga Team is the main race organizer its always the Team against everybody who shows up. Over the last decade the names of the winners (and almost winners) mark the importance and serious cash issue of the Buschhütten race: Lothar Leder, Macca,Faris, Maik Petzhold, Steffen Liebetrau......

After all since i entered the EJOT Team 3 years ago, i always had my share of trouble first with the dead flat bike course without any drafting and then the tricky running part around almost every corner in the whole little town!

However this year i rolled out my new Storck Aero and with my smokin run in Capetown i was pretty confident.
With Norman Stadler giveing his debut in BH it was another reason t fight to the finish!

Prerace was very nervous - Norman and the Dresdner Kleinwort gang made the big show and my good friend Sebastian Kienle ( i spent 3 days before the race with him) got more and more jumpy as he felt big things to happen in his legs!

One thing about my swim- S.....
My googles went foggy and i lost Maik Twelsieks feet after 200 of 1000m in the pool already!

Exiting the Water with all the IRONMAN cracks had not been my plan but still i felt up with the challenge and tried to look as dangerous as possible under my time trial helmet when i rolled out on the Siegen Autobahn with Liebetrau, Stadler and Twelsiek!

The same guys who had dropped me last year after 20 k this year they had to suffer me until we made the lead "pack" together. By that time Kienle was almost a minute ahead which was a pretty big surprise for all the Big Names around me!

Running out of T2 in 4th on Stadlers heels i was almost looking forward to the run!
Shouldnt have though. After 1000m my legs just shut down , it was like riding a flat tire......
Well i managed 10th in the end and stopped looking for reason pretty soon as this sometimes happens in early season racing.

Having Sebastian grab the victory is a big blow for the time and Norman of course but als a reason for me to smile as well as work harder to catch up with him by the time we race together in monaco!
